Curious Cravings

It's strange the way my tastes have changed so much over the last few months. I mean people tell me that it will happen. But so many of the things people tell you about being pregnant seem so far fetched that until you actually experience it you have a really hard time believing it. I am having a hard time understanding things that I want and don't want. Foods I used to not be able to stand...I want them now. I used to hate onions, unless they were cooked a certain way. I now get them on everything. I used to be adamant that onions didn't belong on hamburgers or in things like chicken salad, so much so that I would pick them off/out of these kinds of things so I wouldn't have to eat them. Now, I'm ordering them extra and such. Craziness I know. I used to not touch pizza with onions on it. Now, I can't imagine not having onions on my pizza. Yum!!

Last night I finally understood the pickles and ice cream joke of pregnancy. No, I didn't eat pickles and ice cream, but I was enjoying my ice cream and wanted something salty, so I had pistachios with it. So yeah, oreo ice cream covered in M&M's with a side of pistachios please.

So maybe you could help me understand how this happens-- I get that pregnant women have odd cravings and like different things during pregnancy, and it all has to do with hormones and such blah blah blah-- so here is my question: What makes you want to try something that you hated before being pregnant?

Beats me. I've done it a couple of times. Mostly I'm just always hungry so I'll eat whatever is there. Sometimes I don't like it, other times I can't seem to live without it. It's crazy. I don't get it. Just seems like a good idea at the time.
